Talks/Tours Schedule

For a schedule of GARDEN TOURS, special Tours and Events and upcoming speaking dates, please click on the Talks/Tours Schedule button to the left.

The following outlines the focus of the talk and tours I am currently giving.

Please join me for an INFORMATIVE AND INSPIRATIONAL TALK on planting with native species to feed and shelter songbirds. I will use the success of my own internationally-certified songbird garden and green roof (!) as a case study. Learn how to plan for a songbird garden, planting styles that attract and protect songbirds, what native species to incorporate and appealing songbird water features. Discover how to shop wisely to support the conservation of songbirds rather than harm them. Certify your garden as a songbird habitat with the Canadian Wildlife Federation. and contribute to international songbird conservation efforts from your own backyard! (Pollinators are included in the talk. 1 out of every 3 items in your fridge is thanks to pollinators! Pollinators enable the plants to bear fruit which in turn feed the local and migratory songsbirds.) Enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Birds and Beans coffee, www.birdsandbeans.ca, prior to talk!

INCLUDED: You will receive the following Canadian Wildlife Federation resource materials; the garden planner - "Creating Habitat for Wildlife," two, songbird identification posters, 2 pollinator posters, and a wildflower poster. In addition, I have prepared handouts on; native species that I have incorporated, helpful websites, tree care for a changing climate and shopping wisely for songbird conservation. (1hr, $150 when hosted by a pre-existing group. Proceeds to Project CHIRP!)

Educational, guided TOURS OF MY SONGBIRD GARDEN are offered in late spring and fall. The tours are an excellent way to reinforce what you learned in the presentation/workshop and expand upon it. Seeing the native species at maturity will help you to envision and plan more easily for your own property. The downspout pond for songbirds and newly planted green roof (for songbirds and pollinators) are included in the tour. The smaller group size enables questions to be addressed as they arise. Enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Birds and Beans coffee, www.birdsandbeans.ca, prior to the tour! ( 2 hr, $15 each. Includes the CWF resource materials listed above.)
